Realme has recently confirmed the launch of the upcoming Realme GT 5 Pro smartphone. The upcoming smartphone will be the Pro version of the GT 5, which debuted in August 2023. Previously, the BBK Group-owned brand teased that the GT 5 Pro would be the brand’s first smartphone to feature a periscope lens. Recently, the brand wrapped up a conference in China where it announced the specifications of the periscope telephoto lens of the upcoming GT 5 Pro smartphone.
At the event, Realme also confirmed that a mid-range smartphone with a periscope lens will soon debut. The MySmartPrice team also noticed that the device has passed the Chinese 3C certification, which shows the device’s fast charging capabilities. MySmartPrice also spotted the smartphone in GeekBench in two configurations, hinting that the launch is coming. Realme has shared a new teaser on Weibo that reveals the device’s launch date in China.
The first Realme smartphone with a periscope lens will debut in December
The teaser shared by the brand confirms that the device will make its debut on December 7 in China. The event will start at 14:00 (UTC +8) and will be broadcast via the brand’s social media. Realme shared a teaser of the presentation with an image of the periscope sensor, which emphasizes the smartphone’s ability to zoom. The device is expected to be available for pre-order via JD.com in the coming days.
Realme confirms via a teaser that the device will feature a 50-megapixel Sony IMX 890 periscope telephoto sensor. The sensor will be equipped with electronic image stabilization (EIS) and optical image stabilization (OIS). Realme will equip the device with a 1/1.56-inch sensor, 2.7x optical zoom and support for 120x digital zoom.
The Chinese manufacturer also reveals the possibility of equipping the upcoming Realme smartphone with RAW capabilities. Realme also confirms that the main and periscope telephoto lenses can capture images in DOL-HDR format. Previous reports suggest that the device will be equipped with a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary lens and an 8MP OV08D10 ultra-wide-angle lens.
Realme uses the same 50-megapixel primary sensor that will debut in the upcoming OnePlus 12 smartphone. Realme also confirmed that the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The GT 5 Pro smartphone’s GeekBench listing confirmed that the device will be available in 16GB and 24GB RAM variants, in addition to 12GB RAM variants.
The listing also ensures that the device will run Android 14 out of the box. The 24GB version of the device scored 2225 points in single-core and 6663 points in multi-core tests. The 3C listing states that the device will support 100W wired fast charging. It is also confirmed that the device will be equipped with a BOE AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1.5K and a peak brightness of 3000 nits.
