Realme GT 5 Pro launched with SD8Gen3, curved OLED display

After months of rumors and leaks, Realme has finally unveiled its highly anticipated Realme GT 5 Pro. The latest smartphone in the company’s GT series is the flagship model and offers top-notch specs and features. Here’s everything you need to know.

Realme GT 5 Pro: Design and display

When creating the Realme GT 5 Pro, the company paid considerable attention to the design of the device inside and out. On the inside, it has one of the largest heat sink units, which has a surface area of 12,000 mm2. This is very convenient, given that it has a powerful filling inside. The back panel has a glass cover (vegan leather for the orange and white variants) that adds to its premium appeal, as well as a large round camera island that houses the image sensor.

Meanwhile, the front of the smartphone features a tall 6.78-inch 8T LTPO 1.5K OLED display with 144Hz adaptive refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, 2160Hz touch sampling rate, DC brightness control, 20,000 levels of brightness adjustment, Pro-XDR technology, a maximum global brightness of 1600 nits and an impressive 4500 nits peak brightness. The screen is curved on the sides and even has perforations for a selfie camera.

Technical characteristics

Under the hood, Realme GT 5 Pro is equipped with the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC from Qualcomm. It’s a top-of-the-line processor, so we can expect excellent performance in everyday use and gaming in particular. This chip is paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. A massive 5400 mAh battery powers this device, which also supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.

The brand has promised to offer three years of major Android OS updates, as well as four years of security updates. It will also run on Android 14 with the custom Realme UI 5.0 out of the box. Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, VC cooling system, USB-C port with USB 3.2 support, and a built-in AI super assistant that supports intelligent speech generation and uses an AI model with 7 billion parameters.

Camera

The camera specs are just as impressive as the internal hardware. On the back, the Realme GT 5 Pro has a 50-megapixel main camera, which is a Sony LYT-808 sensor (also used on the new OnePlus 12). It supports OIS (optical image stabilization) and is paired with another 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 periscope telephoto camera that offers 3x optical zoom and up to 120x hybrid zoom. Finally, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 camera is also mounted on the back for ultra-wide-angle shots. On the other hand, a 32-megapixel selfie camera is placed on the front.
