Perplexity CEO denies financial problems

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas recently took to Reddit to respond to user complaints and assure them that the company is not under serious financial pressure.

It seems that Srinivas was partially responding to a user theory that the company is “in terrible financial shape” and that it is “making a lot of changes to cut costs.” As an example, the theorist pointed to Perplexity’s automatic mode, in which the AI search engine automatically selects a model to answer a user’s query.

On the contrary, according to Srinivas, Perplexity created the automatic mode because “all AI products are now being released continuously and add a bunch of buttons, drop-down menus, and clutter,” which, he said, “is not rational.”

“The user should not have to learn so much to use the product,” he said.

As for whether Perplexity is facing pressure to cut costs or go public, Srinivas said: “We have all the funding we have raised and our revenue is only growing.” In fact, he said, the company “has no plans to go public until 2028.”
