NordVPN is known for developing its own VPN protocol, NordLynx, based on the popular and reliable WireGuard protocol. It also supports the proven OpenVPN protocol. Today Nord Security adds NordWhisper to its latest encryption offerings.
Some countries, such as China, India, Pakistan, and Russia, prohibit their citizens and visitors staying on their territory from using VPNs. Even if you visit these countries with a VPN program pre-installed, the governments of these countries have anti-VPN solutions to prevent their use. This is where NordWhisper comes in. The company claims that instead of relying on standard masking techniques, NordWhisper mimics normal internet traffic, making it harder for governments to determine if you’re using a VPN, although it’s not foolproof.
All VPN protocols have latency and delays, and Nord Security also noted that NordWhisper is likely to be slower than other protocols because of its technology. Despite this, the company has promised to make it smarter, faster, and more efficient in its operation.
NordWhisper will be gradually rolled out to users, starting with Windows, Android, and Linux apps. Other applications will receive support at a later date, although Nord Security does not give specific days or timeframes.
