New Elgato webcam will install filters for the lens

Elgato has just introduced a new webcam with professional features. The Facecam 4K allows users to attach filters to the lens for unique effects. This is the first webcam with this functionality.

The camera integrates with any 49mm lens filter, opening up a world of potential. For example, you can install a circular polarization lens (CPL) filter to reduce glare from glasses or create cinematic effects like diffusion. The device comes with a free CPL filter to get you started if you purchase the camera from the official Elgato store.

As for the traditional specifications, the camera records in 4K at up to 60 frames per second and uses a Sony Starvis 2 CMOS sensor with f/4.0 aperture and fixed focus. It connects via USB-C and weighs just 0.26 pounds.

The 4K Facecam works in conjunction with Elgato’s Camera Hub software, which offers manual control over a variety of settings. These include ISO, exposure, shutter speed, pan, tilt, and zoom. It also works with Prompter equipment, although it requires replacing the back panel. The company adds a special backpack with new Prompter purchases. For the uninitiated, the Elgato Prompter is a great teleprompter designed for streamers.

The 4K Facecam even works with Switch 2 to create truly cinematic reactions in Mario Kart World. Simply update the firmware to version 2.32 or later and connect directly to the console.

The latest Elgato webcam is available now and costs $200. This device is similar in its characteristics to the previous Facecam Pro webcam, but it costs $300 and does not allow you to change lenses. However, it has a better sensor.
