The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council was unable to determine the winners of a competition for licenses for digital television broadcasting in Kyiv.
The council’s Chairman Volodymyr Manzhosov announced this at a news briefing.
The competition was for three multiplexes (packages of television channels) —TVK 41 (with a transmitter capacity of 1.3 kilowatts), TVK 43 (with a transmitter capacity of 0.5 kilowatts), and TVK 64 (with transmitter capacities of 1.5 and 1.2 kilowatts).
The council was unable to determine the winners of the competition because there were insufficient numbers of competitors.
Accordingly, all the television channels that were offered via the competition have been added to the council’s reserve.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council announced the competition for licenses for digital television broadcasting in Kyiv on December 30, 2009.
The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council is the organ that licenses television and radio broadcasting organizations and monitors fulfillment of the terms of such licenses.
