In October 2023, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. An official statement released after the chip’s launch listed several brands that planned to integrate it into their devices. They include Asus, Honor, iQOO, Meizu, Nio, Nubia, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Redmi, Red Magic, Sony, Vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE. It is noteworthy that all brands except Vivo and Sony have already introduced smartphones based on SD8G3. While the Vivo X100 Ultra with this chip is expected to debut in April, Sony’s flagship is expected to be unveiled in the first half of the year. Interestingly, Motorola is not mentioned in this list. A fresh leak suggests that the Lenovo-owned brand will indeed release a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone in the next few months in China.
Motorola phone based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is on the way
According to Wisdom Pikachu, Motorola is working on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and it will be officially unveiled in Q2 2024. That’s all, nothing else is known about the mystery phone.
Motorola launches its flagship phones under the X-series brand in China and the Edge-series in the global market. The company introduced the Moto X40 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip in December 2022, and in April 2023, the same device was rebranded as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro for the global market.
There is no confirmation yet, but there is a possibility that Motorola Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 may enter the Chinese market under the name Moto X50. On the global market, the same device may be repackaged as Motorola Edge 50 Pro.
Let’s hope that in the coming weeks rumors will reveal more details about the mysterious flagship phone of Motorola.
