Microsoft has introduced an artificial intelligence-based video generator for its Bing search engine. Bing Video Creator is powered by OpenAI’s Sora, which creates short clips based on text prompts. This free feature is now available on the Bing mobile app, and will be available on desktop and Copilot Search later.
Over the years, Microsoft has invested several billion dollars in OpenAI to support its artificial intelligence efforts. In 2023, the tech giant integrated OpenAI’s DALL-E image generation feature into its Bing search engine, so it’s no surprise that it followed a similar path with its video tool Sora.
However, the launch of Sora was not easy: YouTube’s CEO banned training on its videos, and some early testers protested against it. The model became widely available late last year. It also faces more competition from other video AI models offering more sophisticated features, such as Google’s Veo 3.
