Lifecell mobile operator has activated support for IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack protocols, which makes Internet connections faster, safer and more efficient. This is another step of the operator to improve the quality and stability of Internet connection for its subscribers.
lifecell continues to improve its services to provide quality services to its customers. Activation provides the operator’s subscribers with faster and more reliable access to the Internet, improved video and audio quality, as well as enhanced security through encryption.
Dual Stack
Dual Stack supports the simultaneous operation of two versions of Internet protocols – IPv4 and IPv6, respectively, maintaining compatibility with current systems and taking advantage of all the benefits of the new generation of protocols.
In essence, this technology acts as a bridge – it allows you to use the potential of IPv6 while maintaining compatibility with IPv4, which ensures uninterrupted operation of services and online resources that do not yet support IPv6.
This is especially true in an environment where the number of connected devices is growing rapidly, in particular due to the development of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Advantages of IPv6
- Significantly larger address space, which solves the problem of running out of IP addresses;
- Support for automatic configuration of IP addresses without the need for DHCP servers;
- Higher level of security due to built-in support for IPsec (Internet Protocol Security);
- No need for Network Address Translation (NAT), which simplifies network architecture;
- Improved performance for multimedia content;
- Enhanced capabilities for IoT and quality of service (QoS).
IPv6 protocol is supported by global players, including Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Netflix, Wikipedia, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare and others. The interaction of lifecell subscribers with these services will become even more efficient thanks to Dual Stack.
How to activate Dual Stack
To activate IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack, you need to change the settings on your smartphone. To do this, select the menu:
Mobile networks → Access point names → lifecell SIM card used for the Internet → APN protocol → select IPv4/IPv6.
However, most modern Android devices already have this setting by default. For iPhone users, the technology will become available after Apple introduces it.
