Mobile operator lifecell announces its financial and operational results for the third quarter of 2023, showing revenue growth of 25.7% and EBITDA growth of 16.3% on a year-on-year basis. lifecell also reports a 48.9% increase in capital investments compared to the same period last year.
Financial results
In the third quarter of 2023, lifecell demonstrated a 25.7% year-on-year increase in revenue to UAH 2,981.2 million compared to UAH 2,370.9 million in the third quarter of 2022.
In the third quarter of 2023, EBITDA increased by 16.3% year-on-year to UAH 1,648.8 million compared to UAH 1,417.6 million in the third quarter of 2022, resulting in an EBITDA margin of 55.3% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to 59.8% in the third quarter of 2022. The margin decline was driven by higher roaming, interconnection and electricity costs.
In the third quarter of 2023, capital investments increased by 48.9% year-on-year to UAH 952.1 million compared to UAH 639.6 million in the third quarter of 2022.
Lifecell’s net profit increased by 45.5% year-on-year to UAH 555.4 million in the third quarter of 2023 compared to net profit of UAH 381.6 million in the third quarter of 2022.
Operational indicators
In the third quarter of 2023, lifecell’s active 3-month subscriber base increased by 11.0% year-on-year to 9.1 million (8.2 million in the third quarter of 2022).
In the reporting period, active 3-month ARPU increased by 19.2% year-on-year to UAH 113.7 (versus UAH 95.4 in the third quarter of 2022). At the same time, the 12-month MoU decreased by 16.9% year-on-year to 123.7 minutes (148.8 minutes in the third quarter of 2022).
On average, about 6.7% of lifecell technology sites out of about 9.5 thousand were temporarily out of operation in the third quarter of 2023. As of the end of September, approximately 97% of lifecell stores were open every day across the country.
lifecell continued to lead in terms of smartphone penetration, which stood at 84.3% at the end of the third quarter of 2023.
