Kyivstar increased spending on telecom network development by 35%

Kyivstar continues to develop digital services to enable Ukrainians to work, study and communicate using modern technologies. Over the next three years, Kyivstar plans to invest USD 600 million in the development of Ukraine’s telecom sector.

In Q2 2023, Kyivstar team connected 80 more settlements to 4G and installed 270 new base stations. The company increased its capital expenditures by 35.1% compared to 2Q2022, which allowed it to expand 4G coverage and accelerate the network reconstruction in the de-occupied territories.

Currently, Kyivstar’s 4G connection is available to 94.3% of the population in the government-controlled areas. More than 93% of Kyivstar’s telecom network is operating as usual. To ensure stable operation of the network, the company spent over UAH 1.395 billion in Q2 2023, 35% more than in Q2 2022.

Development of 4G and services

The telecom operator’s subscribers increased the use of mobile Internet services. Megabytes per subscriber in Q2 2023 increased by 25.6% compared to Q2 2022. This was made possible by the development of the 4G network and the company’s tariffs with a large number of megabytes. The number of subscribers using 4G services increased by 13.5% compared to 2Q2022.

The total number of subscribers in Q2 2023 decreased by 2.6% as a result of the impact of war factors, such as migration outside the country and the temporary occupation of a number of settlements.

Kyivstar is developing services to help Ukrainians overcome the challenges of war. These include digital services for online education, health care, leisure, digital TV services Kyivstar TV, and others. Thus, the number of subscribers using more than one service of the telecom operator increased by 37.8%.

In Q2 2023, Kyivstar paid over UAH 2.7 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget of Ukraine. The total amount of taxes and other payments paid to the state budget since the beginning of the war exceeded UAH 15.2 billion. In addition, the national telecom operator has provided assistance to the Armed Forces, its subscribers and the country in the amount of UAH 1.162 billion. During the 17 months of the war, the company spent UAH 8.136 billion on the development and construction of its telecom network.
