Kyivstar has increased its 4G coverage during the war

Since February 2022, Kyivstar has expanded its 4G coverage to 3.5 thousand more settlements. Today, Kyivstar’s high-speed mobile Internet is available to more than 94% of the population in the government-controlled areas.

Strengthening the resilience of the telecom network and developing broadband access is Kyivstar’s main infrastructure objective. Despite the war, the company continues to expand its 4G coverage area to make high-speed mobile Internet services available to the majority of Ukrainians. Thus, from February 2022 to the present day, the 4G radio coverage area has increased by 3.5 thousand settlements. Almost 10 thousand base stations were built and modernized for this purpose.

Over the past 17 months, the telecom operator’s spending on the development and rebuilding of telecom infrastructure has exceeded UAH 8.2 billion. The scale of investments in 2023 increased by 28.6% compared to 2022. Kyivstar’s high-speed mobile Internet services are now available to 94% of the population in the government-controlled areas where mobile networks have been restored. In addition, since the beginning of the war, the company has restored telecommunications infrastructure in 911 Ukrainian settlements that were destroyed by Russian military aggression.

Kyivstar continues to build radio coverage along highways and railways. During the war, the company has covered another 5,500 kilometers of Ukrainian roads with high-speed mobile Internet. At present, 4G Internet is available on 9.5 thousand kilometers of regional and national roads. In the next three years, the telecom operator plans to invest USD 600 million in Ukraine to rebuild infrastructure in the de-occupied territories and develop new communication technologies.

Kyivstar mobile services are used by 24 million subscribers, and more than 1 million subscribers use the Home Internet service. Since the beginning of the war, Kyivstar has already provided charitable assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainians and the state for a total amount of over UAH 1.3 billion and paid UAH 15.2 billion in taxes and fees to the state budget.
