Mobile communication operator Kyivstar cancels from February 1 a service called Find A Friend, which allows clients to spot other subscribers, reads an announcement made by the operator.
“Kyivstar is announcing cancellation of the service Find A Friend after 1 February 2010,” reads the announcement, un.ua says.
Instead of the terminated service company clients can use a service Maiachok (‘Beacon’) which provides subscribers with information about locations and movements of other subscribers.
With help of a certain setup a subscriber can create a subscriber group named Family and monitor locations and movements of this group members.
Every subscriber has to give his/her consent for being included into such group once, when connecting to the group.
Kyivstar introduced Find A Friend service for its subscribers on January 29, 2007.
In August 2007 the operator introduced the service Mayachok to notify about movements of other subscribers.
