As part of a joint charitable initiative of Kyivstar and the Come Back Alive Foundation, they continue to raise funds to provide demining equipment to 146 engineering and demining groups of the Armed Forces Support Forces. So far, UAH 110 million has been accumulated for the project, and 51 demining groups have already been equipped with the necessary vehicles and equipment.
The modern demining equipment and new pickup trucks that the military will receive will help protect the lives of our defenders and speed up the liberation of Ukraine’s territory and its waters from the dangerous legacy of war and occupation.
“Our sappers are working in the de-occupied territories and at the front. Last year, we demined the liberated Kharkiv region with our colleagues, then we were on a rotation to Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, and now we are working in the Kupyansk sector. Therefore, reliable transportation is extremely important to us. It allows us to quickly get to the areas where we perform our missions, get out of the line of fire and evacuate the wounded,” says Yulia “Romashka”, commander of a demining unit.
30% of Ukraine’s territory, equal to half the area of Germany, is mined. Almost 6 million Ukrainians’ lives are at risk. Humanitarian demining is currently one of the country’s top national priorities.
“Every day we invest in the future of Ukraine. Making our cities safe for life is one of Kyivstar’s priorities, and we do it both through the services we provide and the initiatives we support,” said Oleksandr Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.
He thanked all those who cared, customers and employees of Kyivstar who made their contribution. He also believes in the safe return of his compatriots to the demined areas.
Assistance in mine clearance is an important mission for the company, so the national mobile operator, together with the army’s competent assistance fund Come Back Alive, launched the project We Live Here to demine the country. Kyivstar has already transferred UAH 20,000,000 to the fundraising campaign. The fundraising campaign to raise UAH 175 million continues until the full amount is raised.
