Honda owners get access to Tesla Supercharger

Owners of Honda and Acura electric vehicles can now take advantage of Tesla‘s extensive network of Supercharger charging stations with the release of the first Honda-approved NACS-CCS DC fast charging adapter. This means that Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX owners can join the growing ranks of electric vehicles from other manufacturers that charge at one of more than 23,500 select Tesla Supercharger charging stations.

“Combined with other growing networks of charging stations, drivers of Honda and Acura electric vehicles can now have peace of mind with a wider range of reliable DC fast charging options across the country,” said Ryan Harty, assistant vice president of sustainability and business development at the U.S. Honda Motor Company.

While Honda and its Acura subsidiary currently have only one all-electric model each, this lays the groundwork for future models to utilize the Supercharger network.

Drivers of the Prologue and ZDX will now see Tesla Supercharger charging stations on their built-in Google Maps for easy navigation. Upon arrival, drivers will use the Tesla app to begin charging. Integration with the HondaLink and Acura EV apps, which will allow connecting and charging electric vehicles, is currently under development, according to Honda.
