Google is adding Gemini intelligence to its Home APIs, allowing smart home developers and manufacturers to leverage Gemini’s AI-powered features and potentially make your smart home much, well, much smarter. The company announced the news in a blog post during this week’s Google I/O developer conference.
Google added a few new Gemini-powered capabilities to its own platform last summer, and now it’s expanding them to others. These include access to AI-powered analytics from Google Nest cameras and the ability to create smart home routines using spoken language.
The company also announced new triggers for automations, including date and weather. Developers with access to the API will be able to add these features to their apps, meaning you, as a user, will be able to experience them without even opening the Google Home app.
