BAT-12V100AH is a flagship AGM battery from the well-known Ukrainian brand EnerGenie. It is a powerful solution for backup power supply for a wide range of consumers, including critical infrastructure.

Why do I recommend paying attention to this product and what results can the user expect? The answers are in this review.

Package contents

But let’s talk about everything one by one. What is interesting in the box, except, of course, the battery itself?

First of all, we are talking about insulating rubber sleeves (attached to the cable connection with the corresponding plus/minus on the battery) and M6 screws for the T13 terminal (actually fixing the cables to the corresponding battery terminals). The battery is quite simple to operate, and therefore there is no user manual explaining the individual nuances. The manufacturer decided that it was simply impractical.

All of the above comes in a relatively compact cardboard box made from recycled materials. The latter, in my opinion, is a plus in the manufacturer’s karma, because it is a contribution to renewable sources. You don’t have to worry about the safety of transportation of the product from the factory to the consumer, because the battery is placed in the middle of the box on fairly high-quality foam seals.

Assembly features

In this article, I discussed the key design features of such solutions as AGM batteries in detail. These are maintenance-free batteries with special electrolyte mats. The latter also have the function of separators between the lead plates, which is why they are arranged as tightly as possible.

Why is this good? In practice, this allows you to put more plates in the case and get an even more compact system compared to classic solutions. The rest of the details can be found at the above link.

Supported standards

EnerGenie BAT-12V100AH is, let’s say, “equipped” with support for the three most authoritative industry standards – IEC, JIS, and BS.

As for IEC. We are talking about the requirements of the international non-profit organization for standardization in the field of electrical and related technologies.

A JIS-compliant product meets the requirements for solutions used in Japanese industry.

BS is the British Standard Specification.

Okay, we’ve dealt with the standards, let’s get back to the features of the battery. Among other features of the model is minimal self-discharge. At least two “things” speak in favor of this point:

  • The battery is almost fully charged “out of the box”, which is impossible with a noticeable self-discharge. In addition, we returned to the “hundred” in about 20 minutes of charging from the Einhell CE-BC 6 M.
  • Before the actual testing, the battery was idle for 2 weeks, but this did not affect the charge level.

My operating experience

Regarding power supply options. First of all, given the problems with electricity last year, I powered the boiler for myself. Yes, summer is far from ideal in this regard, but, as they say, “prepare your sled in the summer”. What are the results? 7.5 hours at maximum power. Believe me, it was spectacular!

Another “mockery” of ourselves is to power a heater in the middle of summer. Well, an alternative option will not be superfluous in our rather difficult times, so we are experimenting further. The power of the heater is 500 watts. I also liked the result – an hour and a half of work, which, by the way, is enough to heat 10-12 meters to a comfortable state.

We recharged, tried different “small stuff” – a blender, a mixer, a laptop, a router. In the end, the battery lasted about two days, which is, let’s just say, very good. Only the router did not turn off, but the laptop worked a lot too. Other “toys” from time to time.

The server must work without “pauses” or several sites will go down at the same time. Is this critical infrastructure? Within the framework of my small business and personal home, yes, because, in addition to the above, there is also backup storage for content from the video surveillance system. Synology DS120j 1-slot NAS + 3 cameras + recorder. The result is 54 hours of continuous operation.

Conclusions and results

You will like the EnerGenie BAT-12V100AH. This is a worthwhile solution that will save you from unwanted problems during an emergency power outage, provide power to the most important consumers of your home infrastructure or business. This model is not picky about operating conditions. Thus, in total, this is a good investment for years that will not rise in price and will not fail at the most necessary moment.

The EnerGenie BAT-12V100AH costs UAH 6999 (USD 189).
