Voice AI company ElevenLabs has just released a standalone mobile app for iOS and Android users that allows you to generate voice clips from text.
Until now, if you needed to generate samples using ElevenLabs’ AI-powered voice libraries, you had to rely on the web app. Now you can use the mobile app to create clips on the go.
To use the app, simply type or paste text and then select the appropriate voice to create an audio clip. The free plan gives users access to approximately 10 minutes of audio generation. You can choose different models to balance cost and quality, and you will have a shared credit limit for the web and mobile app.
ElevenLabs also said that the app has access to v3 alpha, the latest text-to-speech model that allows users to manage expressions using tags.
Jack McDermott, the company’s head of mobile development, told TechCrunch that many authors are already using the web browser on mobile devices to create voice samples for use in videos with other apps like CapCut, Instagram, or InShot. Seeing this demand, the company wanted to create a native experience.
“Over the past year, we’ve seen an explosion of creativity in our community – content creators, marketers, educators, voice-over artists, and professionals are using ElevenLabs to bring projects to life. Many of them have accessed ElevenLabs from mobile web browsers and have asked for a faster, more intuitive, more powerful experience built specifically for mobile,” he said in an email.
The company will also compete with other voice cloning and generation tools such as Speechify and Captions.
This is ElevenLabs’ second consumer-facing app, after last year the company released the Reader app, which allows users to listen to articles, blogs, PDFs, and ebooks on the go. Earlier this year, the company also opened the Reader app to publishers to distribute audiobooks.
The company intends to release other new features in the future, such as speech-to-text and an AI conversational agent tool, and plans to add MCP-based features such as 11.ai to the app.
