Telesystems of Ukraine will buy Chinese equipment to double coverage of its network. Telecommunications company Telesystems of Ukraine (TM PeopleNet) has signed a contract with a Chinese manufacturer Huawei for the supply of base stations and other telecommunications equipment. By the summer of 2010 the operator plans to increase the number of base stations by half and bring their total number up to 600. This will allow the company to create the 3G network of 47 Ukrainian cities, adding 10 new to the list.
The cost of the contract is not disclosed, but experts estimate it could be about $ 20 million
Telesystems of Ukraine “(TM PeopleNet) provides services to wireless mobile communication and Internet access technology CDMA EV-DO Rev.A. Last year the company’s net profit amounted to 35,8 million UAH.
