OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot receives more than 2.5 billion queries daily, of which 330 million are from US users, according to data obtained by Axios.
The data indicates that ChatGPT users send more than 912.5 billion requests to the AI chatbot every year. OpenAI spokesperson Rob Friedlander confirmed to The Verge that the figures cited by Axios are true.
Although ChatGPT is still far from Google’s 5 trillion searches per year, its rapid growth still poses a serious threat to the search giant. In just a few months, the number of weekly ChatGPT users has grown from 300 million last December to over 500 million in March.
Earlier this month, Reuters reported that OpenAI is preparing to release an AI-powered web browser in the coming weeks that will directly compete with Google Chrome. Last week, the company took a step toward this goal by launching ChatGPT Agent, a tool that can perform tasks on your computer for you.
