Today, Google announced the launch of Gemini, the most powerful model from the search giant with highly developed multimodal thinking capabilities.
Built for flexibility, Gemini is optimized for three different variants – Ultra, Pro, and Nano – so it can run anywhere from data centers to mobile devices.
Gemini is now coming to Bard in its largest update to date. Gemini is launching on Bard in two phases: starting today, Bard will use a specially customized version of Gemini Pro in English for more advanced reasoning, planning, insight, and more.
And early next year, Google promises to introduce Bard Advanced, which will give users first access to the most advanced models and features, starting with Gemini Ultra.
Try Gemini Pro at Bard
Before introducing it to the general public, the developers put Gemini Pro through a series of industry standard benchmarks. In six of the eight tests, Gemini Pro outperformed GPT-3.5, including better performance in MMLU (Massive Multitask Language Understanding), one of the key leading standards for measuring large-scale AI models, and in GSM8K, which measures the mathematical thinking of elementary school students.
In addition, the developers have specially customized Gemini Pro at Bard to make this model much more capable in things like comprehension, generalization, reasoning, coding, and planning. And we’re already seeing great results. In blind evaluations by third-party evaluators, Bard is now the most popular free chatbot compared to leading alternatives.

You can try Bard with Gemini Pro today for text prompts, with support for other modalities coming soon. Initially, it will be available in English in more than 170 countries and territories, with other languages coming soon in various countries, including Europe.
Gemini Ultra in the extended version of Bard
The Gemini Ultra is the largest and most powerful model designed to handle the most demanding tasks and is built to quickly understand and respond to a variety of information types – including text, images, audio, video, and code.
One of the first ways to experience Gemini Ultra is through Bard Advanced, Bard’s new AI experience that gives you access to the best models and features. The developers are currently completing thorough security checks and will soon launch a trusted tester program before opening Bard Advanced to more users early next year.
