Audiobooks+ by Spotify is available for select subscribers

You probably associate Spotify mainly with music and podcasts, but if you have a premium subscription, you also get 15 hours of access to audiobooks per month. For some users, however, this is clearly not enough, as Spotify has introduced a new add-on subscription that doubles this listening time.

Audiobooks+ was first tested in Ireland and Canada, and is now being rolled out to Premium Individual and Plan users in several European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. By adding it to your subscription, you’ll get an additional 15 hours of listening to audiobooks included in the Spotify catalog, in addition to what’s already included in the basic plan. For individuals, Spotify Premium costs $12 per month.

For those on the Premium Family ($20 per month) or Duo ($17 per month) plans, the plan manager must purchase the app, and they can also purchase a one-time 10-hour refill if they run out before their rights reset each month.

Spotify already offers an Audiobooks Access plan for US users only, which is separate from the premium plan and also includes access to ad-supported music and podcasts.

Audiobooks+ prices vary by market, but in the UK they are £9 per month (about $12), where the individual Premium plan costs £12 (about $16). We’ll find out how much it will cost here when the service launches in the US, which Spotify told Engadget will happen “in the coming weeks.”
