ASUS is preparing to launch the ROG Phone 8 series in China on January 16. It is expected to include three models – ROG Phone 8, ROG Phone 8 Pro, and ROG Phone 8 Ultimate. These flagship gaming smartphones will compete with the Red Magic 9 Pro series.
Recent leaks from Windows Report shed light on the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro. Now, these devices have appeared in Geekbench, demonstrating performance as well as confirming some key specifications.
According to Geekbench, both the ROG Phone 8 and ROG Phone 8 Pro, identified as AI2401_C, will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and run Android 14. These 16GB RAM devices scored 2210 and 6863 in both single-core and multi-core tests.
Technical specifications of the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series
According to previously published data, the devices will have a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Memory options vary: The ROG Phone 8 offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while the Pro model can be configured with 16GB/24GB of RAM and 512GB/1TB of storage.
The ROG Phone 8 Ultimate model, which is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, has up to 24GB of RAM and supports 65W fast charging, as evidenced by 3C certification.
The Pro’s camera capabilities are rumored to include a 50-megapixel rear camera (Sony IMX890 sensor), a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens. Selfie lovers can count on a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Both models are IP68 water and dust resistant.
We can expect more details to emerge soon. While the launch in China will take place on January 16, the smartphones will be unveiled before then at CES on January 8. Asus is also preparing compact smartphones of the Zenfone 11 series. Although the chances are quite small, the brand may demonstrate or tease the Zenfone 11 series at CES 2024.
