The iPad Pro with the M5 chip is expected to be equally easy to use for selfies in landscape or portrait orientation. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will add a second front-facing camera on the portrait side of the upcoming iPad Pro, which is expected to be unveiled later this year. This may seem like a small improvement in quality of life, but it means that the iPad Pro will be able to use either camera to center the subject for selfies or FaceTime calls.
Compared to previous iPad models, the new iPad Pro with Apple’s latest silicon eliminates the need to guess where the front camera is. In the past, iPad models had only one front camera located on the portrait side, but in 2024, Apple decided to move it to the landscape side in the iPad Pro M4. iPad Pro owners who mostly use their devices in landscape orientation welcomed this change, but those who prefer to keep it upright found that unlocking with Face ID became more difficult.
In addition to the new front-facing camera, the new iPad Pro should have a slight performance boost and better power efficiency thanks to an improved M5 chip. In addition to the iPad Pro, Apple is reportedly planning to update the next-generation Vision Pro, MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with the chips.
