Apple Vision Pro launch scheduled for January 27 in the US

Apple is planning to introduce its long-awaited Vision Pro headset in the United States on January 27, according to supply chain reports cited by the Wall Street Observer. This information coincides with Gurman’s announcement of ramping up production and a potential retail launch in February.

Apple Vision Pro will hit the market earlier than expected

Sony is the primary display supplier for the Vision Pro headset, utilizing its expertise in screen technology to develop the headset. An undisclosed Chinese company is also a secondary supplier, playing a vital role in increasing production capacity in the event of high demand for the product.

The headset is equipped with a silicon-based OLED screen (OLEDoS) that utilizes a Color Filter (CF) + WOLED circuit. This method improves color reproduction by passing white light through RGB color filters, promising users a superior visual experience with clarity, rich colors, and overall screen quality.

However, there are reports that Apple is also planning to release an updated version of its Vision Pro headset in 2027, which will feature RGB OLEDoS technology for greater brightness than the current WOLED+CF model. RGB OLEDoS generates light and color directly from RGB subpixels, eliminating the need for color filters and increasing display brightness.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at Tianfeng International, emphasizes the strategic importance of the Vision Pro headset in Apple’s 2024 product lineup. Kuo believes that it could redefine consumer electronics trends, estimating that Apple plans to ship around 500,000 units this year, demonstrating confidence in the potential market demand for the product.

Kuo also suggests that the positive user response to Vision Pro could make it the “next star product” in consumer electronics, affecting stock prices in the relevant supply chain and setting a new standard for high-end electronic devices in the technology industry.

A quick look at the Vision Pro’s specifications reveals a high-resolution display (over 23 million pixels) powered by an M2 chip and an R1 chip for fast sensor data processing. It includes a variety of sensors, including LiDAR, to track user and environmental movements. The device can capture 3D photos and videos, offering an immersive experience, and is versatile for gaming, movie watching, and augmented reality applications. The starting price of Vision Pro is $3,499.
