Apple today updated its iOS sports app with several new features, including a faster way to navigate the app, support for several additional soccer tournaments, and information on where to watch matches broadcast nationally in the United States.
According to the update notes, you can now quickly “swipe left or right to see all the leagues and teams you follow.” On a specific game page, an additional line with broadcast information has appeared under the team name and its season record, such as “Live on NHL Network” or “Live on TNT, Max, truTV” if there are multiple ways to watch it.
The update also expands the Sports app’s soccer coverage by adding FA Cup, Premier League, and League Cup tournaments held in the UK.
Apple Sports was launched in February, providing fans of several different major sports leagues, including the NBA, NHL, and MLS, with a one-stop solution for tracking scores, stats, upcoming games, and even betting odds. In August, the app added real-time scores and live stats for NFL and college football games, and expanded Live Activities support “for all teams and leagues available in the app,” making it easier to track games on the iPhone and Apple Watch lock screen.
In December, the app also introduced Key Plays, a summary of scores and highlights of the game, as well as league standings, making it easier to keep track of which teams qualified for the postseason.
