Android Auto error disrupts wireless connection to your phone

Android Auto users are experiencing wireless connectivity issues after recent updates. According to Android Authority, some Reddit users are reporting that attempting to connect wirelessly to cars through the Android platform causes their phones to reboot. Others are finding that the wireless connection refuses to work entirely.

Google said that their team is “aware of the issue” and is “currently investigating ways to resolve it.” There is no estimated timeframe for a fix.

In recent weeks, some phones have been working with Android Auto using a wired connection only, according to several complaints on Google’s Android Auto community forums discovered by 9to5Google. Users report that the Bluetooth connection works for a short time and then drops out, or the wireless connection is only established after the phone is rebooted. In some cases, Android Auto randomly forces connected phones to reboot without being asked.

“Reboots occurred while making a call, listening to music on YouTube, and reading books on Libby,” one Reddit user reported. “It happened both when connected and disconnected, and when I was using GPS and when I wasn’t.”

It’s a mishmash of different issues, but the timeline suggests that the bugs may be related to the Android Auto v13.4 and v13.5 updates that were released in January and February. It’s unclear whether rolling back to a previous version of the software fixes the communication issues, and no viable workaround has been found yet.
