Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba said on Monday that its Taobao instant shopping portal, which delivers goods within 60 minutes, has surpassed 40 million daily orders within a month of launch.
The portal combines sellers from Alibaba’s food delivery unit Ele.me with its main internal shopping app Taobao and is part of a broader movement by Chinese online platforms that have been investing billions in so-called “instant retail” in recent months.
