Upcoming Redmi K80 series smartphones will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Gen 4

A leak from blogger @Digital Chat Station, published on IT Home on March 6, shed light on Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi K80 series smartphones. Although official details remain under wraps, the leak provides clues as to what to expect from the next generation of these popular devices.

Information suggests that these devices will be released in late 2024

The leak suggests that Xiaomi is currently developing two new iterations of the K series: the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro. Although no specific launch date is mentioned, the information points to the end of 2024, potentially coinciding with the release of the next-generation Snapdragon processors.

A significant change in processing power is hinted at, with the leak suggesting a move away from the current Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 used in the Redmi K70. Instead, Xiaomi may equip the K80 series with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or even Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, depending on their availability by the end of the year.

The leak also highlights Xiaomi’s focus on two key areas: battery life and design. The rumor suggests the possibility of using an “ultra-high capacity, high-density anode silicon battery,” which is an improvement over the 5000 mAh capacity of the Redmi K70. The K80 series design is expected to retain familiar elements of the K70, including the 2K screen, metal center frame and glass body.

It is important to remember that this information is based on a leak and not an official confirmation from Xiaomi. While it gives an idea of the potential direction Xiaomi may take the K80 series, official details regarding specifications, features, and release date may vary.
