The Anti-Monopoly Committee (AMC) sees no grounds to recognize communications operators as monopolists in the interconnect market (mutual connection of operators to each other’s networks), Anti-Monopoly Committee Acting Head Oleksandr Melnychenko told.

“The situation in the interconnect market is stable, no row between operators, so there is no reason to raise an issue on recognizing telecommunication entities as monopolists or those abusing the market position,” the AMC acting head said.
In case of appeals to recognize telecommunication entities as monopolists in the interconnect market, the Anti-Monopoly Committee will examine the issue according to the laws in effect, Melnychenko added.

As Ukrainian News reported, the Anti-Monopoly Committee in May 2009 declared 8 companies, telecommunications operators, as monopolists in the interconnect market, but in June it suspended the decision to conduct additional market research.
