Military expert Sergei Flesh (Beskrestnov) determined that Russian designers not only repainted the new Shaheds in black color, but also significantly lightened the design.
“I got to the fragments of black Shaheds. This is a completely different material than Iranian, and it’s not just paint. The cake is 6 mm thick. There is a black layer 1 mm thick on the top and bottom, and a light filler 4 mm thick inside,” the expert notes.
According to him, the filler looks like very dense polystyrene foam. And the black layers are most likely fiberglass impregnated with epoxy resin. The whole cake is very light and durable.
“I was surprised that this material has some kind of metal content. My metal detector reacts slightly to it. The resistance of 1 centimeter, checked with a tester, is 20-30 ohms,” says Flesh.
Obviously, the introduced design features contribute to an increase in the flight range and payload. In turn, the black color contributes to the drone’s better invisibility.
Earlier, there were reports of Shahed drones with 4G modems. The military found Kyivstar SIM cards and Alcatel modems in the UAVs.
