The government passes a resolution reorganizing the NAU into two higher education institutions: Kyiv Aviation Institute and the Ukrainian State Flight Academy in Kropyvnytskyi. This is an important decision for the development of Ukrainian air piloting, drone production, defense-tech and national security.
During the war, everyone should work to improve the state’s defense capabilities. NAU was supposed to become a center for the development of air piloting and UAV development. But the university has not shown effectiveness, Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov believes.
“The state has not seen a single drone developed by the university’s specialists since the beginning of the full-scale war. The constant complaints of students against the management and scandals with the illegal alienation of university land for construction had a negative impact on the educational process and openly demotivated young people,” Fedorov said.
Now, he said, educational institutions will have new leaders and will become centers where victory technologies will be created. They will be proactive, innovative and ready to respond quickly to the needs of society and the state.
Students and teachers continue to work and study. The reorganization will not change the working conditions or salaries of the teachers, and students will continue to receive knowledge at the Kyiv Aviation Institute and the Ukrainian State Flight Academy.
Kyiv Aviation Institute will have a supervisory board with expanded powers. The Board will control the spending of the institution’s funds, the education system, and the appointment of rectors and deans during the university’s transformation. Representatives of business, government agencies of all levels, local self-government, and NAU alumni will join the Board.
“We continue to systematically change education and transform educational institutions into places where innovations will appear, without which it is impossible to win the war,” adds Fedorov.
