Production Hood and its partners have developed a composite plate with sound sensors that can clearly distinguish between any type of flying vehicle.
According to the company’s representative, the military provided the developers with samples with the sounds of shahids, missiles, airplanes, and helicopters.
“So we not only know that something is flying, but also where it is coming from. If an object passes through several such plates, we know the direction of movement. And by the sound, we can clearly understand what type of equipment it is,” the representative said.
Use all the towers
About a hundred of these towers have already been installed along the contact line. As part of a public-commercial partnership, 700 have already been ordered. Negotiations are underway to find funding from the state and foundations to create a large network throughout Ukraine. So that all missiles and drones can be clearly tracked.
In our opinion, the state can encourage mobile operators to install similar equipment on all base station towers to strengthen the country’s defense.
Laser turret
To match these sound detectors, the company is developing a symbiosis of a thermal imager and a laser – an automatic laser turret. This is a rotary mechanism that can automatically turn towards a moving object, guided by a thermal imager and illuminate it with a laser for easy shooting down.
That is, for example, a combat unit in the form of a jeep with a laser and a thermal imager on board receives information that a missile is now at such and such a point and is flying in such and such a direction. They point to a modern thermal imager that clearly distinguishes between different objects.
“We see a flying object on the thermal imager from 7 kilometers away, point the laser at it and start shining. At night, if you point the pointer at the shahed, it becomes very clearly visible. And it can be shot down with a machine gun from a jeep or launched by a drone aimed at this laser,” the expert adds.
