Anthropic’s unreleased next-generation flagship model, Claude Fable 5.5, is generating buzz in the developer community. Recent early testing results shared by developers on social platform X highlight a remarkable 66-second animated short film generated entirely through code. Testers report that the model autonomously wrote and executed code for approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes to produce the animation, complete with background music and sound effects, without relying on external image or video generation tools.
Code-Generated Animation: A New Frontier
On November 2nd, AI developer Chetaslua on X shared an animated short film, claiming it was independently created by Fable 5.5. According to the description, the 66-second video, with a resolution of 1920×804 at 24fps, features elements like foxes, paper birds, clouds, text, and lighting effects. The background music and sound effects were also generated by Python code written by the model.
Unlike direct video-generating AI tools such as Sora and Runway, this demonstration showcases a technical pathway to animation production via code. The developer noted that no external image assets, stock libraries, audio samples, or font files were used. The model reportedly handled scene design, rendering, and audio synthesis autonomously, packaging the final output into an HTML file.
Interactive 3D Scenes and Performance Comparisons
Beyond animation, other overseas developers have showcased interactive 3D scenes allegedly generated by Fable 5.5, featuring elements like ancient sailing ships, ocean waves, and sports cars. These demonstrations involved front-end graphics technologies like Three.js, with the program controlling models, lighting, and object movements, with some scenes generated from simple prompts.
In comparative tests of complex animations, developers like Jazil presented results from different models generating scenes with bicycles, animal characters, and character combat. According to the testers, Fable 5.5 could complete the coding and execution of complex dynamic scenes within about an hour. In contrast, some existing Claude models struggled with incomplete code or failed animations for similar tasks. However, these tests were conducted without a unified evaluation environment, making direct performance rankings inconclusive.
Fable 5.5: Hints and Speculation
The emergence of Fable 5.5 has been foreshadowed. In mid-October, the Azure directory of the third-party model tool LiteLLM briefly listed an entry named ‘claude-fable-5-5’ before its removal. More recently, developers discovered ‘Claude Mythos 5.5’ within the HTML source code of certain pages on Anthropic’s official website, fueling speculation about an impending release.
Anthropic’s current product structure suggests Fable and Mythos share the same underlying model but differ in their security restrictions. Mythos is primarily for audited cybersecurity and life science research institutions, while Fable is made available to general users and developers with enhanced safety features. Anthropic has not yet confirmed if the 5.5 series will follow this design.
Model Leaks and IPO Context
Amidst these revelations, a repository on Hugging Face claiming to contain Mythos model weights with a reported 14 trillion parameters recently appeared. However, researchers have identified signs of artificial synthesis in some weight data, casting doubt on the credibility of the alleged model leak.
This series of model exposures comes at a critical time for Anthropic as it navigates its IPO process. The company disclosed in its IPO filing on November 2nd that its revenue reached $3.3242 billion in the first three quarters of the year. Yet, the escalating costs of computing power and significant losses heighten the anticipation for next-generation models to deliver tangible technological breakthroughs and commercial returns.
The Future of AI Programming Agents
As the competition in AI models shifts from code completion to extended autonomous execution of complex tasks, Fable 5.5’s demonstrated capabilities in animation creation and 3D scene generation highlight the potential applications for AI programming agents.
As of this report, Anthropic has not officially confirmed the release date, performance metrics, or accessibility scope of Fable 5.5. The aforementioned test results await official verification and independent evaluation.
