HiBy has launched its latest portable Hi-Fi music player, the R6III SE, priced at 1798 Yuan. This new device aims to deliver high-fidelity audio in a portable package, featuring a robust build and advanced audio components.
Design and Display
The HiBy R6III SE measures 129.4 x 73.1 x 15.6 mm and weighs 250g. It is available in two color options: black and navy blue. The front of the player boasts a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The back panel features a striking diamond-cut textured glass design.
Audio Prowess
At the heart of the R6III SE are four Cirrus Logic CS43198 DAC chips, each supporting 8 independent output channels. This configuration is designed to provide exceptional audio decoding capabilities. The amplifier section offers flexibility with switchable Class A and Class AB modes. The Class A amplifier is built with OPA1652 operational amplifiers, transistors, and ELNA audio capacitors, promising a pure and detailed sound signature.
For precise clocking, the device is equipped with two dedicated audio crystal oscillators, operating at 45.158MHz and 49.152MHz. This dual-oscillator setup helps minimize jitter and ensure accurate audio reproduction.
Performance and Connectivity
Under the hood, the R6III SE is powered by a Snapdragon 665 processor, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This configuration ensures smooth operation and responsiveness for the device’s interface and applications.
Connectivity options are plentiful. The bottom of the player houses a variety of analog audio outputs, including 3.5mm single-ended (PO), 4.4mm balanced (BAL), and dedicated 3.5mm line out (LO) and 4.4mm balanced line out (BAL.LO) ports. The USB-C digital interface not only supports charging and data transfer but also coaxial output.
The R6III SE runs on an Android operating system and features HiBy’s proprietary DTA (Direct Transport Audio) technology, which bypasses Android’s SRC (Sample Rate Conversion) for bit-perfect audio playback. It also supports HiByCast for global remote control functionality.
Wireless Capabilities
For wireless connectivity, the player supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0. It offers bidirectional Bluetooth connectivity and is compatible with high-quality audio codecs such as UAT (Ultra Audio Transmission) and LDAC, ensuring high-fidelity wireless audio streaming.
Battery Life
The device is equipped with a substantial 4500mAh battery. HiBy claims impressive battery life figures: in Class AB mode, users can expect around 13 hours of playback from the 3.5mm output and approximately 11 hours from the 4.4mm balanced output. When switched to Class A mode, the battery life is slightly reduced, offering about 11 hours from the 3.5mm output and 9 hours from the 4.4mm balanced output.
