Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) and Network (NW) divisions have reported their second consecutive quarter of losses for Q3 2026. The combined business unit posted a net loss of 0.6 trillion Korean Won (approximately 3.02 billion RMB) on merged revenues of 37.7 trillion Korean Won (approximately 189.59 billion RMB) in the last quarter.

The MX business, which is the primary contributor to this division, alone generated 37.3 trillion Korean Won (approximately 187.58 billion RMB) in revenue. In an effort to mitigate further profit declines, Samsung’s MX division is reportedly focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving market conditions.

Despite the downturn in the MX and NW segments, Samsung’s overall Device Solutions (DS) division demonstrated significant strength. The DS division recorded a substantial 15% quarter-over-quarter revenue increase, reaching 147.1 trillion Korean Won (approximately 739.77 billion RMB). This performance translated into an operating profit of 106.5 trillion Korean Won (approximately 535.59 billion RMB).

A key driver for the DS division’s success was its memory business. This segment alone brought in 140.7 trillion Korean Won (approximately 707.58 billion RMB) in revenue, marking an impressive 16.5% increase from the previous quarter. This growth in memory revenue highlights a strong rebound and increased demand within this critical sector.

Furthermore, Samsung Display also contributed positively to the company’s Q3 2026 performance. The display division achieved 8 trillion Korean Won (approximately 40.23 billion RMB) in operating revenue, a 6.7% rise compared to the prior quarter. While this represents a slight sequential dip from the previous period, it still indicates a healthy revenue stream. The division reported an operating profit of 1.1 trillion Korean Won (approximately 5.53 billion RMB).

This mixed performance underscores the dynamic nature of Samsung’s diverse business portfolio. While the consumer-facing MX and NW segments face challenges, the core semiconductor and display operations are experiencing robust growth, suggesting a strategic pivot or a cyclical strength in these areas.

The company’s overall financial results for Q3 2026 showed a remarkable surge in net profit, with the consolidated net profit reaching 75.21 trillion Korean Won, a year-over-year increase of 526.39%. This significant jump indicates that the strong performance in the DS and display divisions is more than compensating for the losses in the MX and NW businesses.

Industry analysts will be closely watching Samsung’s strategies moving forward, particularly how the company plans to address the persistent losses in its mobile and network divisions while capitalizing on the booming semiconductor market. The ability to balance these divergent performances will be crucial for Samsung’s sustained profitability and market leadership in the coming quarters.
