Fujifilm has officially announced the release of its latest instant camera, the Instax Mini Evo 2. This new digital instant camera aims to blend classic instant photography with modern digital features, offering users more control and flexibility.
Key Features and Upgrades
The Instax Mini Evo 2 boasts a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, a significant upgrade that allows for higher resolution digital images before printing. This digital core means users can preview their shots on the camera’s rear display before committing to a print, a feature that helps reduce wasted film.
A standout feature is the upgraded 4.5-inch touchscreen display. With a resolution of 1.23 million pixels, this screen provides a clear and responsive interface for previewing photos, selecting from 20 different filter effects, and even cropping images before printing. This level of control was not as prominent in previous models, making the Mini Evo 2 a more versatile tool for creative expression.
Performance and Imaging
Under the hood, the camera is equipped with a 1/2.77-inch, 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, paired with a wide-angle 21mm f/2.0 lens. This combination is designed to capture sharp images, even in varied lighting conditions. The camera automatically adjusts shutter speed and ISO, but also offers manual control over exposure compensation, appealing to photographers who prefer a more hands-on approach.
Beyond still photography, the Instax Mini Evo 2 is capable of recording video at a resolution of 992 x 560 pixels. This adds another dimension to the camera’s capabilities, allowing users to capture short video clips that can be printed or stored digitally.
Connectivity and Storage
In line with modern devices, the Instax Mini Evo 2 incorporates smartphone connectivity. This feature allows users to transfer photos taken with their smartphones directly to the camera for printing, effectively turning the camera into a high-quality instant photo printer for digital memories. The camera also features internal storage capable of holding up to 45 photos, and supports expansion via microSD cards, ensuring ample space for both digital captures and stored images.
Availability and Pricing
The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo 2 is slated for release by the end of November. It will be available with a suggested retail price of $289 USD, which translates to approximately 1,932 Chinese Yuan based on current exchange rates.
This new model represents Fujifilm’s continued commitment to the instant photography market, offering a compelling mix of digital innovation and the tangible charm of instant prints. The enhanced screen, improved sensor, and expanded connectivity options position the Instax Mini Evo 2 as a significant update for fans of the Instax line.
