Ukraine has applied to the corporation ICANN, which is responsible for addressing the Internet, to register Cyrillic Internet domain .УКР.
This domain will allow to create sites with the Internet address in Ukrainian or Russian.
It should be noted that ICANN has already got the applications for domains in the native alphabet from Russia and Egypt.
In October 2009 ICANN approved the registration of domain names that use not only Latin, but also the characters and symbols of national alphabets.
