A significant shipment of Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, valued at approximately 2.5 million Brazilian Reais (around 3.3 million RMB), has gone missing after arriving at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport in Brazil. The distributor, Oderço, based in Maringá, Paraná, reported the perplexing disappearance of the high-value cargo.

Disappearing Act at the Airport

According to Oderço’s president, Odelsir Mattos, the company received confirmation of two cargo pallets containing Zotac products arriving at the airport. However, the goods were subsequently untraceable. Mattos stated that the distributor is actively investigating the incident and has yet to receive any information that could help locate the missing graphics cards.

In a statement, Oderço highlighted the unusual nature of this event, noting that the company has been involved in the import business since 2008, accumulating over 38 years of operational history without any prior cargo losses. “For so many years, our cargo has never been lost. Until now,” Mattos commented, emphasizing the unprecedented situation.

The Missing High-End Hardware

The missing consignment consists of Nvidia’s flagship GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, part of the upcoming RTX 50 series lineup slated for a January 2025 release. These GPUs are anticipated to offer formidable performance and incorporate advanced new technologies, justifying their premium price point.

The RTX 5090 is primarily targeted at discerning users, including:

  • High-resolution gaming enthusiasts seeking the ultimate visual experience.
  • Professionals in graphics computing who require substantial processing power for their work.
  • Users operating demanding AI tasks that necessitate high-performance hardware.

Ongoing Investigation

Oderço confirmed that the estimated cost of the missing shipment is 2.5 million Brazilian Reais. The distributor has reportedly contacted various parties involved in the logistics chain to investigate the matter and seek an explanation for the disappearance of the valuable graphics cards. The incident raises concerns about cargo security and handling procedures at one of Brazil’s busiest international airports.

Further details regarding the investigation and the potential recovery of the RTX 5090 shipment are expected as Oderço continues its efforts to trace the lost cargo.
