Huawei recently unveiled more technical details about its new imaging product, the Huawei Ruiying Z10 module camera, codenamed “King Kong.” Officially launched on October 1st, this innovative device features the HyperClick super mount design and is priced at 5999 yuan, with a collector’s edition set available for 19499 yuan.

“King Kong”: A Deep Dive into Huawei’s Ruiying Z10

At the Huawei Terminal Innovation Technology Communication Conference, Li Xiaolong, CTO of Huawei Terminal BG and Head of the Hardware Engineering and Product Development Management Department, shared insights into the Z10 module camera. The product’s development is backed by 76 patent applications covering six key areas: product definition, appearance, photography, hardware architecture, structure, and antenna technology.

The Ruiying Z10 integrates multiple sensors, including the “Hongfeng” (Red Maple), aiming to deliver micro-single camera-level optical quality combined with an enhanced shooting experience. It is designed to leverage the full intelligent shooting capabilities of smartphones.

Advanced Features and Compatibility

A notable accessory for the Huawei Ruiying Z10 is the Smog filter adapter ring, which supports the attachment of 77mm filters. Huawei highlights this as a “top-sensor compatible design,” suggesting broad adaptability for professional photography needs.

Further details revealed at the conference indicate that the Ruiying Z10 module camera is engineered to collaborate closely with a smartphone’s SoC. Through a synergistic approach involving hardware, software, and AI, coupled with intelligent fusion focusing, the camera achieves fast, accurate, and stable autofocus. Additionally, it incorporates an independent optical image stabilization (OIS) module. When working in tandem with the Kirin chipset, this setup provides flagship-level stabilization performance, mitigating the effects of hand shake for clearer shots.

Key Highlights of the Huawei Ruiying Z10 Module Camera:

  • Codename “King Kong”: Reflects the robust engineering and advanced capabilities.
  • HyperClick Super Mount: A new design enabling seamless integration.
  • Micro-Single Level Optics: Aims to match the image quality of dedicated mirrorless cameras.
  • Integrated Sensors: Features advanced sensors like “Hongfeng.”
  • AI and SoC Synergy: Utilizes smartphone processing power for intelligent shooting and autofocus.
  • Independent OIS Module: Enhances stability for clearer images and video.
  • 77mm Filter Compatibility: Offers flexibility for creative control with external filters.

The announcement positions the Ruiying Z10 as a significant step forward in mobile imaging, bridging the gap between smartphone convenience and professional camera performance. While details on its availability beyond the initial launch are still emerging, the focus on advanced sensor technology, AI integration, and optical quality underscores Huawei’s continued commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography.

This development was shared in conjunction with news surrounding the Huawei Mate 90 series and its all-scenario new product launch event.
