Coolpad is gearing up to launch a new smartphone that aims to stand out with its distinctive design and an accessible price point. Information about the upcoming device first surfaced via the ‘Coolpad Phone Flagship Store’ account on the social network Xiaohongshu, revealing several key specifications.
Design and Display Details Emerge
The forthcoming Coolpad smartphone is set to feature a 6.3-inch display. A notable aspect of its design, deviating from contemporary trends, is its uneven bezel thickness. Specifically, the bottom bezel, or ‘chin,’ is expected to be significantly wider than the other three. This design characteristic has led industry observers to speculate that the device might employ an LCD panel.
Performance and Software Insights
According to insider information from @experience_more, the smartphone will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 processor. The 6.3-inch display is reported to have a 720p resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. A unique software feature highlighted is the DroiClaw Zhuge 3 AI operating system, positioned as the ‘world’s first wide-rectangular’ intelligent OS. This term, ‘wide-rectangular,’ likely alludes to the unusual screen aspect ratio or the device’s overall design.
Aggressive Pricing Strategy
One of the most compelling aspects of the upcoming smartphone is its projected price – approximately 999 yuan. This pricing strategy firmly places the device within the budget smartphone segment.
Market Positioning and Uniqueness
Coolpad is marketing this device as the ‘world’s first wide-rectangular’ smartphone. While the terminology may raise eyebrows, it underscores the company’s intent to offer a unique product. The device is also mentioned as being the ‘first Android’ and ‘second in the world’ smartphone of this kind, suggesting Coolpad’s ambition to carve out a new niche in the market. Previous leaks had already hinted at its budget-friendly nature.
Coolpad has yet to announce a definitive release date for the new smartphone, but has indicated that it will be available ‘soon.’ This suggests that Coolpad is focused on delivering an interesting and affordable alternative to the standard smartphone offerings currently available.
