Renowned game director Hideo Kojima has confirmed his upcoming cameos in both a major live-action film and a well-known animated project. The news came during a recent episode of his KOJI10 radio program, where he shared details about his burgeoning acting endeavors beyond the gaming world.

Kojima, known for his groundbreaking work on titles like Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, has been increasingly venturing into acting and voice work. He previously made an appearance in the Japanese drama series Themis and lent his voice to the Japanese dub of Zootopia 2.

During the radio broadcast, Kojima elaborated on these new roles: “Directors and other people have invited me to appear. One is a major live-action film, and the other is a well-known animated work.”

While Kojima is actively engaged in developing two major AAA game projects – the horror title OD and the espionage game PHYSINT – he has also been involved in behind-the-scenes voice recording for other projects, including an unannounced game where he made a cameo.

Kojima expressed his preference for acting, viewing it as a secondary pursuit to his primary role as a game creator. He stated his dislike for portraying himself on screen, opting instead for the challenge of embodying other characters and personas. This approach allows him to explore different facets of performance without blurring the lines with his public image.

Notably, Kojima has not actively sought out acting opportunities through auditions. Instead, many notable creators have directly approached him, recognizing his unique presence and appeal. For instance, Disney Japan revealed that Zootopia 2 director Jared Bush personally invited Kojima to voice the character of Officer Mole, a detective in the police department. This direct invitation highlights the industry’s recognition of Kojima’s versatility and his potential as a performer.

These upcoming cameos signal another step in Hideo Kojima’s diverse creative journey, demonstrating his willingness to explore different artistic mediums and engage with the broader entertainment landscape beyond video games.
