The 2026 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Global Championship, held in Shanghai, China, has seen an early exit for four VCT CN league teams. In the first stage of the group play, specifically the lower bracket rounds, all four Chinese teams were defeated by their opponents, failing to advance to the group stage finals.
Early Exit for VCT CN Teams
The teams JDG, EDG, TYL, and XLG have all been eliminated from the prestigious tournament. This marks a disappointing performance for the VCT CN representatives, as none managed to secure a single best-of-three series victory throughout their participation. Their overall score in the tournament was a grim 2-16 in terms of individual map wins.
Performance Details
Further highlighting the struggles of these teams, several instances saw them unable to secure a single round in a half, with scores reaching as low as 0-12 in individual maps. This indicates a significant gap in performance compared to their international rivals in this year’s Global Championship.
The VCT Global Championship is the pinnacle event of the Valorant esports calendar, bringing together the best teams from various regional leagues around the world. The group stage is crucial for teams to establish their footing and advance to the latter stages of the competition. Unfortunately for JDG, EDG, TYL, and XLG, their journey concluded in the initial phase, placing them between 13th and 16th in the final standings of this year’s championship.
While the specific reasons for this collective underperformance are not detailed in the initial reports, the results speak for themselves. The VCT CN league is known for its passionate fanbase and competitive spirit, making this early exit particularly surprising for followers of the region’s esports scene. Fans will be looking towards future tournaments and VCT seasons to see if these teams can regroup and demonstrate a stronger performance on the global stage.
