The Pangu Stone mobile forensic R8.8.0 version has received significant upgrades, focusing on extraction, analysis, and security control, according to an announcement from QiAnXin’s Pangu Stone forensic team. This update brings enhanced capabilities, including support for the latest Android 17 system with privileged access and expanded compatibility for Android 16 on Samsung and Xiaomi devices.

Enhanced Extraction Capabilities

The Pangu Stone forensic R8.8.0 version introduces several improvements to its extraction capabilities. Notably, it now supports privileged access for Android 17, ensuring comprehensive data acquisition from the latest operating system. Additionally, the team has expanded support for privileged extraction of Android 16 on popular Samsung and Xiaomi devices, addressing the needs of users with these popular brands.

The intelligent screenshot auxiliary evidence feature has also been upgraded. It now preserves the original page layout of text identified in screenshots, providing more contextually accurate evidence. Stability for IMEI extraction on Huawei HarmonyOS devices has been improved. Furthermore, Wi-Fi data extraction for OPPO devices now includes support for private space data, offering deeper insights into user activity.

To prevent data loss and ensure task completion, the tool now identifies and prompts for low battery levels before extraction begins, reducing the risk of interruptions. It can also recognize whether a device is connected in MTP mode, helping users troubleshoot connection issues.

Advanced Data Analysis

A major breakthrough in the new version is its enhanced analysis of multimedia data, particularly for WeChat. The tool can now locate and reconstruct fragmented deleted images, voice messages, and videos, even after they have been removed from the device. This capability is crucial for rebuilding conversational context and recovering critical information that was previously lost.

In terms of application analysis, the update adds support for new HarmonyOS applications, including Doubao, Qianwen, Kuaishou Lite, and Douyin Lite. It also adapts to new Telegram data structures and continues to optimize the parsing of popular applications like Enterprise WeChat, Douyin, Douyin Volcano Edition, Douyin Lite, and Toutiao.

Improved Security and Control

The Pangu Stone forensic R8.8.0 version introduces robust security and control features. It now supports unified user management and role-based login, allowing administrators to assign specific usage permissions based on user roles and identities. This granular control enhances data security and compliance.

An operation audit log tracks key actions such as logins, extractions, exports, and data cleaning, providing a transparent and accountable record of all activities. Both the software interface and output reports can be customized with watermarks, including unit, case, or personnel identifiers, further securing sensitive data.

To manage data lifecycle and reduce the burden of long-term storage of sensitive information, the new version supports automatic cleaning of case data based on preset policies. This feature helps organizations comply with data retention regulations and minimize security risks.
