Apple has officially unveiled its new music venue, the Apple Music Hall, located in the iconic Battersea Power Station in London. This exciting development sees a historic landmark transformed into a state-of-the-art space dedicated to live music and immersive audio experiences.

A Historic Landmark Reimagined

The Battersea Power Station, originally a coal-fired power station that began operations in the 1930s and was decommissioned in the 1980s, has stood as a significant London landmark for over five decades. Recognized as a Grade II listed building, its transformation into a music venue marks a new chapter in its storied history.

Apple Music Hall seamlessly integrates the power station’s original architectural features with modern technology. Visitors will find the venue adorned with the original brickwork, grooved arches, and bronze balconies, creating a unique and atmospheric setting. A massive glass wall offers stunning panoramic views of the river, adding to the venue’s appeal.

Cutting-Edge Performance Capabilities

The venue boasts a 38-foot wide stage, offering flexibility to adapt to various performance styles. It can be configured as a traditional proscenium stage or transformed into an in-the-round setup, allowing audiences to experience performances from all sides.

Central to the Apple Music Hall experience is its advanced audio system. The 600-seat venue is equipped with 48 speakers that deliver Spatial Audio all around the audience, providing an incredibly immersive sound experience. This system is designed to place listeners directly in the heart of the music, mirroring the way artists create and mix their tracks.

Recording and Broadcasting Ready

Beyond the performance space, Apple Music Hall features dedicated recording and mixing studios located behind the stage. This allows every performance to be captured directly as multi-track audio, ready for live Spatial Audio mixing or post-production work. This integration ensures the highest quality audio capture for both immediate use and future releases.

Furthermore, the venue is equipped with infrastructure to support high-level broadcasting. Sixteen camera positions are available, with connectivity to a broadcast control room. This setup is designed to work in tandem with iPhone video capture, enabling seamless integration with traditional broadcast-quality cameras.

Global Reach for Live Performances

Apple emphasizes that performances at the Apple Music Hall will be streamed globally. This initiative aims to bring live artist performances to fans worldwide, transcending geographical limitations and allowing a broader audience to connect with music as it happens in London.

The opening of Apple Music Hall represents a significant investment in live music and immersive audio technology, leveraging a historic site to create a forward-looking performance space.
