Jetour Auto has announced that the highly anticipated Jetour Traveler 7 will begin its pre-sale period on September 23rd. Building on the initial interest generated by earlier ‘small order’ registrations, this move accelerates the vehicle’s launch timeline. The new model retains the rugged, boxy aesthetic of the Traveler family, but introduces updated circular headlights and will be available in both traditional fuel-powered and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) configurations.
Design Evolution
While maintaining the classic silhouette, the Jetour Traveler 7 features several key design refinements. The front fascia sports retro-style circular daytime running lights, complemented by a horizontal light strip within the main lamp clusters. The brand’s lettering has been repositioned to the hood, and the front bumper is now body-colored, with the previous black plastic cladding removed for a cleaner, more sophisticated look.
The side profile continues the signature floating roof design and blacked-out wheels. Straight character lines, traditional door handles, and body-colored extended wheel arches reinforce its robust character. The vehicle will be offered in two body size specifications: 4827mm (or 4848mm for the other version) in length, 2006mm in width, and 1875mm in height, all with a wheelbase of 2800mm.
At the rear, the Traveler 7 adopts the family’s characteristic side-opening tailgate and an externally mounted spare tire. The taillights have been treated with a smoked finish, adding to the vehicle’s distinct appearance.
Intelligent Driving and Interior Comfort
In terms of intelligent features, the driver assistance systems are tailored to the powertrain. The fuel-only variant will be equipped with the Falcon 500 advanced intelligent driving system. In contrast, the plug-in hybrid C-DM version will feature Huawei’s Kunpeng ADS 5 system, promising advanced autonomous driving capabilities.
Inside, the Traveler 7 showcases a more flattened dashboard design. It incorporates a combination of an independent digital instrument cluster and a floating central infotainment screen. The center console is integrated with a wireless phone charging panel, a driving mode selector, and several controls for off-road functions, enhancing both convenience and usability.
Powertrain Options: Power and Efficiency
A significant upgrade lies in the powertrain options. The gasoline variant is powered by a 2.0TGDI engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering a maximum power of 187kW and peak torque of 390N·m.
The C-DM plug-in hybrid version boasts an impressive setup consisting of a 1.5TD engine and a tri-motor hybrid system. This potent combination, utilizing battery cells from CATL, produces a system-wide maximum power of 575kW and a substantial torque of 835N·m. It offers a CLTC pure electric range of 245km and an impressive comprehensive range of up to 1400km on a single charge.
Off-Road Prowess
Capability off the beaten path is a core focus, with all Jetour Traveler 7 models coming standard with the XWD fully automatic intelligent four-wheel-drive system. Additionally, the vehicle features a ‘7+X’ one-button off-road mode. This system automatically manages torque distribution and ensures obstacle clearance in challenging terrains. The seven distinct driving modes are designed to cover a wide array of urban and outdoor driving scenarios, providing drivers with confidence and versatility.
