GAC Aion BU President Zhang Xiong has officially revealed more configuration details for the highly anticipated 2027 Aion i60, with the official launch set for September 15th. This upcoming model builds upon the existing AION i60, which was first released in November 2025 and is available in both pure electric and extended-range electric (EREV) variants, starting at a limited-time price of 104,800 RMB.
Enhanced Features for the 2027 Aion i60
While the overall design of the 2027 Aion i60 is expected to remain largely consistent with the current model, significant upgrades are in store. The central infotainment screen will be enlarged from the current 14.6 inches to a more immersive 15.6-inch 2.5K display. Practicality is also enhanced with the addition of a front trunk and an aluminum alloy luggage rack capable of supporting significant weight.
For the pure electric version, the 2027 Aion i60 will feature an amorphous motor, boosting its CLTC range to an impressive 700 kilometers. This represents a notable improvement over the current pure electric model’s maximum range of 650 kilometers.
Advanced Driving Assistance and Extended Range Capabilities
Further details indicate that the new Aion i60 will be equipped with a 192-line lidar sensor, enabling advanced driver-assistance systems. It will utilize a novel one-piece end-to-end algorithm, reportedly derived from L4 autonomous driving technology, promising a substantial enhancement in assisted driving capabilities compared to the current iteration. The vehicle’s dimensions are listed as 4685mm in length, 1854mm in width, and 1660mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2775mm.
The 2027 Aion i60 is being touted as the electric vehicle with the longest range globally. Its extended-range version boasts an extraordinary comprehensive range of 1738km under CLTC conditions, with a pure electric range of 350km. This extended range capability is a significant leap forward for EREV vehicles.
Comparison with Current AION i60 Models
For context, the current AION i60 pure electric models are powered by electric motors with maximum power outputs of 150kW or 165kW. These are paired with battery options of 47.829kWh, 62.268kWh, and 75.26kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 400km, 530km, and 650km, respectively.
The existing AION i60 EREV model features a 1.5-liter extended-range engine with a maximum power of 74kW, coupled with a 180kW drive motor. It uses a 29.165kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC pure electric range of 210km and a comprehensive CLTC range of up to 1240km. A notable feature of the current EREV model is its rapid charging capability, reaching 80% charge from 30% in just 15 minutes.
With these upgrades and impressive range figures, the 2027 GAC Aion i60 is poised to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle market, particularly for consumers prioritizing long-distance travel and advanced technology.
