Maxsun (铭瑄) has recently expanded its motherboard lineup with the introduction of three new Micro-ATX boards for the AMD Socket AM5 platform, all based on the B850 chipset. These new additions cater to different user needs, ranging from professional cafe setups to enthusiast-grade builds.

Introducing the New B850 Trio

The three newly launched motherboards are the MS-B850M I-CAFE, MS-Challenger B850M-P WIFI, and MS-Challenger B850M-B WIFI. This move by Maxsun aims to provide more affordable yet capable options for AMD Ryzen users looking for compact builds without compromising on essential features.

MS-B850M I-CAFE: Built for Connectivity

Targeting the internet cafe segment, the MS-B850M I-CAFE sports Maxsun’s signature red and black color scheme. This board features a robust 8+2+1 phase 50A DrMOS power delivery system, ensuring stable power for the CPU. For storage and expansion, it offers two PCIe slots and two M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs. Connectivity is bolstered by a 2.5GbE LAN port and a distributed Debug LED for easier troubleshooting.

Challenger Series: Feature-Rich Options

The MS-Challenger B850M-P WIFI and MS-Challenger B850M-B WIFI belong to Maxsun’s ‘Challenger’ family and share many similar specifications. The primary distinction lies in their memory support: the B850M-P WIFI is a standard width board with four DIMM slots, while the B850M-B WIFI is a narrower design with two DIMM slots.

Power and Performance

Both Challenger models are equipped with a 6+2+1 phase power design, utilizing 60A SPS DrMOS for core power delivery. They boast support for memory overclocking up to 8000MT/s, appealing to users who want to push their RAM performance. Expansion is handled through three PCIe slots: one PCIe Gen5 x16 slot for the latest graphics cards, a PCIe Gen4 x4 slot, and a PCIe Gen3 x1 slot. Storage options include two M.2 slots, one supporting PCIe Gen5 x4 and the other PCIe Gen4 x4, alongside two SATA III (6Gbps) ports.

Connectivity and Extras

For audio, these boards feature the Realtek ALC897 audio codec. Networking capabilities include both 2.5GbE LAN and Wi-Fi 6 WLAN support, providing fast and reliable internet connectivity. A convenient front panel USB-C port with 20Gbps transfer speeds is also included. Like the I-CAFE model, the Challenger boards come with distributed Debug LEDs for system diagnostics.

Availability and Pricing

The MS-Challenger B850M-P WIFI is the first to be available in the market, retailing for 799 RMB. Maxsun has positioned these B850 motherboards as competitive options for building powerful yet compact AMD AM5 systems.
