The upcoming Polestar 4 SUV has been spotted undergoing transportation in South Korea, offering an undisguised look at the vehicle before its official global debut on September 2nd. Automotive media outlet CarScoops shared images of the undisguised SUV, revealing key design differences from its coupe sibling.
Distinct SUV Styling
The most significant visual alteration compared to the Polestar 4 coupe is the addition of a traditional rear window on the SUV variant. The coupe version controversially opted for a heavily raked rear tailgate that completely eliminated the rear glass. The SUV model, however, adopts a more conventional roofline and a squared-off tailgate. This design is anticipated to provide improved headroom for rear passengers and increased cargo capacity.
Despite the changes to the rear, the Polestar 4 SUV is expected to retain many design elements from the coupe, including the full-width LED taillights, flush door handles, and the distinctive front-end styling that flows from the headlights up to the B-pillars.
Shared Platform, Refined Performance
Both the Polestar 4 SUV and coupe will share the Geely-developed SEA (Sustainable Experience Architecture) platform. However, Polestar has confirmed that the SUV version will feature a retuned chassis for a distinct driving experience.
Powertrain options will include a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model producing 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS). For those seeking more performance, an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual-motor variant will deliver a potent 536 hp (400 kW / 544 PS).
Enhanced Range
The Polestar 4 SUV will be equipped with a 94 kWh battery pack. Official figures indicate a WLTP-certified range of up to 630 km (392 miles), which is a slight increase of 10 km (6 miles) over the Polestar 4 coupe.
