Yangtze Memory Technologies Corp. (YMTC), a leading Chinese NAND flash memory manufacturer, has officially submitted its IPO application and is aiming to raise approximately 33 billion yuan through a listing on the STAR Market. The Shanghai Stock Exchange has updated YMTC’s IPO review status to ‘accepted,’ signaling a significant step forward in the company’s public debut.

Rapid Progress Towards IPO

This development follows closely on the heels of YMTC’s IPO tutoring period, which concluded on August 19th. The company’s progress has been notably swift; the filing of its IPO tutoring registration with the Hubei Securities Regulatory Bureau on May 19th, 2026, and its subsequent completion within approximately three months, sets a new record for IPO tutoring speed among semiconductor companies.

The tutoring process was overseen by a joint team from CITIC Securities and China Securities Co., Ltd., who signed the ‘Tutoring Work Completion Report’ on August 19th. This efficient timeline underscores the company’s readiness and the regulatory bodies’ streamlined approach.

Financial Performance and Market Position

YMTC’s financial disclosures reveal a strong recovery and rapid profit growth since becoming profitable in 2024. For the first quarter of 2026, the company reported operating revenue of 47.042 billion yuan and a net profit attributable to the parent company of 33.379 billion yuan. This robust financial performance positions YMTC favorably for its market entry.

According to Counterpoint Research data for the second quarter of 2026, YMTC has already entered the top three global NAND flash memory market players based on shipment volume. The company ranks just behind industry giants Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, highlighting its significant competitive presence.

Strategic Vision and Future Outlook

In its prospectus, YMTC outlines an ambitious vision: “Seizing the era of rapid global artificial intelligence development, coupled with the potential of China’s vast market space, the company will not only deeply cultivate the domestic market but also actively deploy globally. We strive to become a global leader in the storage industry with excellent products, leading technology, trusted partners, and satisfied shareholders and employees, contributing to society while achieving our own success.”

Established in 2016 and headquartered in Wuhan, YMTC is a national leader in 3D NAND flash memory technology. With a registered capital of 17.82 billion yuan, its largest shareholder is Hubei Changsheng Development Co., Ltd., holding a 26.54% stake. The company is under the effective control of the Hubei provincial state-owned asset system.

YMTC follows DRAM leader Changxin Integrated Circuits Manufacturing (CXMT), which listed on the STAR Market in July 2026, as the second major domestic integrated device manufacturer (IDM) in the memory chip sector to pursue an A-share listing. Market expectations have generally placed YMTC’s IPO valuation at around 300 billion yuan.

Technological Advancement and Expansion

The company operates two major production bases in Wuhan, with a combined monthly capacity of approximately 200,000 wafers. YMTC is continuously advancing its 3D NAND technology towards higher layer stacking. The funds raised from the IPO are earmarked for the construction of three phases of production lines, investment in advanced process research and development, and supplementing working capital.

YMTC’s ascent marks a pivotal moment for China’s domestic semiconductor industry, particularly in the critical memory sector. Its successful listing on the STAR Market is anticipated to further bolster its R&D capabilities and production capacity, solidifying its position as a global player in the fast-evolving storage market.
